On March 5, 2012, the 2012 BNP Paribas Showdown will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, highlighted by two marquee exhibition matches. Representing the men’s side of the sport, Switzerland’s Roger Federer will take on American Andy Roddick who he has met with on 22 different occasions, including four times in a Grand Slam final.

On the women’s side, Russian Maria Sharapova will take on current number one-ranked WTA player Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark.

Both matches will be played as a best of three sets match.

Federer has an overall record of 20-2 against Roddick, where he has won all four of the Grand Slam finals where the two have faced off. This will be Roddick’s first time playing in the BNP Paribas Showdown event. Federer played an exhibition against Pete Sampras at the 2008 BNP Paribas event.

Tickets for the event go on sale Monday, Oct. 3.
