Blake Scores Upset Over del Potro at Stockholm Open

Unseeded American James Blake defeated second-seeded Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2011 Stockholm Open in Sweden. Also advancing was South Africa’s Kevin Anderson, the number five seed, a 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4 winner over Germany’s Tommy Haas.

Canada’s Milos Raonic, the number six seed, was also victorious on Wednesday, 6-3, 6-3, over the unseeded German Philipp Petzschner. Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over American Ryan Sweeting to also advance. Dimitrov moves on to face the number four seed, Juan Ignacio Chela of Argentina on Thursday.

The unseeded 18-year-old from Australia, Bernard Tomic, was a 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-0 winner over Jurgen Zoppas of Estonia, setting up a Thursday afternoon match with the top-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils. Also in action on Thursday, Finalnd’s Jarkko Nieminen will face the number three-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka from Switzerland, and the number seven-seeded Ivan Dodig from Croatia will face the unseeded David Nalbandian from Argentina.
