2012 U.S. Open Ballperson Tryouts Set for June 21

On Thursday, June 21, the 2012 U.S. Open Ballperson Tryouts will take place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Approximately 80 sought-after positions as ballpersons for the 2012 U.S. Open are up for grabs with more than 400 people competing for spots. Prospective ballpersons will be evaluated by U.S. Open officials on their running, throwing, and catching skills.

The registration line for the general public will begin forming at 3:00 p.m. Evaluation process will begin at approximately 4:00 p.m., after a welcome by U.S. Open Ballperson Director Tina Taps. In order to apply for a position, one must be 14 years of age or older. 

The 2012 U.S. Open qualifying draw will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21 through Friday, Aug. 24. The 2012 U.S. Open Main Draw will be held Monday, Aug. 27 through Sunday, Sept. 9.
