Longtime high school tennis coach Howie Arons has ended his 36-year coaching career, stepping down as coach of the Cardozo Boys Tennis Team. Through Howie’s illustrious career as head coach at Cardozo, he has amassed 582 career wins against only 51 defeats, and won 18 New York City Championships. Howie’s success on the court was only equaled by his success mentoring his players off the court. His presence in the high school game will be sorely missed.

"After 36 years coaching Cardozo Boy’s Tennis Team I have decided to call it a career," said Arons. "Lots of crazy feelings going on, but let me thank all of you for the support and time you gave me at Cardozo. It was truly the best thing in my life professionally and I remember every moment being with the best players New York had to offer. I am truly a lucky man. From the age of 27 to 63, my life was the Cardozo Boys Tennis team. Wow … what a ride. I’m not going into the sunset, just managing and directing a wonderful program at Great Neck Estates and spending lots of time with my family. Hope to hear from all of you tennis buddies soon."

New York Tennis Magazine would like to congratulate Howie on a special career and thank him for all he has brought to the high school tennis world both on and off the court.
