Saturday, May 4 was opening day at the New York Tennis Club, as the weather cooperated for a great day of tennis, and loads of players came out to enjoy the facility as a great time was had by all. Set in the shadow of the Throgs Neck Bridge, New York Tennis Club has been fully restored since Hurricane Sandy ravaged its grounds. The six Har-Tru courts were in use as members and non-members paired up for round-robin doubles before enjoying a wonderful spread provided by the club.

It was the first day of outdoor play for the season and New York Tennis Club was looking to bring in some new members with their incredible deal on a year of tennis. Although the club is located in New York City, it truly feels like the country, with its high hedges and trees, and plenty of lush green grass surrounding the courts. The covered patio in front of the clubhouse was a shaded oasis to cool down after leaving it all on the courts. Many congregated on the viewing patio next to the courts to watch their friends take on each. Opening day was a great first day of the season and should be a prelude to a great five months of outdoor tennis.
