Brooklyn’s Kerznerman Wins Boys 18s National Clay Court Championship

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Kerznerman of Brooklyn, N.Y., who trains full-time at the USTA Training Center in East Flushing, N.Y. captured the USTA Boys 18s National Clay Court Championships singles title on Sunday. With the win, Kerznerman received a wild card entry into the 2013 U.S. Open Junior Championship.

As a number 17 seed, Kerznerman beat the seventh-seeded Mitch Stewart of Federal Way, Wash. 6-4, 6-3, in the singles final in Delray Beach, Fla. Kerznerman, who has been ranked as high as 70th in the world junior rankings for players ages 18 and under, will also receive a wild card into a USTA Pro Circuit Men’s Futures event to be determined.
