The United States Davis Cup Team will host the Slovak Republic in the 2014 Davis Cup by BNP Paribas World Group Playoff, Sep. 12-14, at a site to be determined. The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced the draws for the World Group Playoffs in London on Tuesday, which include eight nations that lost in the first round of the 2014 Davis Cup World Group and eight nations that advanced from zonal competition. The U.S. lost its first round match to Great Britain in February.

The USTA will determine the location for the U.S. vs. Slovak Republic match, pending ITF approval. The winner qualifies for the 2015 Davis Cup World Group and is eligible to win the title next year. The losing nations will compete in their respective Zone Group I competition in 2015.

The U.S., seeded fifth for the Playoff, holds a 2-0 record over the Slovak Republic in Davis Cup. The U.S. last faced the Slovak Republic in the 2003 World Group Playoff in Bratislava, where the U.S. won, 3-2, with a U.S. team led by Andy Roddick, who won the U.S. Open singles title the week before the match, Mardy Fish, and the doubles team of Bob & Mike Bryan. The U.S. also played the Slovak Republic in the 2002 World Group First Round in Oklahoma City, with the U.S. winning the tie, 5-0.
