Fourth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska saw her US Open run come to an end at the hands of China’s Peng Shuai on Wednesday afternoon as the unseeded Shuai cruised to the 6-3, 6-4 victory.

The loss only adds to the struggles that Radwanska has faced on the Flushing Meadows courts as she the 25-year old from Poland has never made it out of the major’s fourth-round. She lost to Peng in the second-round of the 2010 US Open as well.

The 28-year old from China fired 28 winners in the match that lasted just over an hour and a half, and used effective ground strokes all match long that kept Radwanska back in a defensive mode.

Peng converted three of five break point opportunities, with the biggest one coming in the fifth game of the second set. With the frame even at 2-2, Peng ripped a backhand winner that put her up 40-30, and after a Radwanska backhand failed to make it in, Peng jumped ahead 3-2.

From there, the 39th ranked singles player in the world was able to serve out the match and ended it with two fantastic backhand winners that did in Radwanska.

Peng now moves into the third-round where she will meet 28th seeded Roberta Vinci of Italy. Vinci needed three sets to knock off Romania’s Irina Begu early Wednesday.

Sloane Stephens’ Grand Slam struggles continued Wednesday as the 21st seeded American was ousted by Sweden’s Johanna Larsen. Stephens blew a one set lead and dropped the final two frames to bow out of the second-round.

The 24th ranked Stephens has now failed to make it past the fourth-round in any of the four Grand Slams this year, including a first-round exit to Maria Kirilenko at Wimbledon.

Alize Cornet pushed her way into the third-round on Wednesday. The 22nd seeded Cornet rolled past Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia 6-3, 6-3. Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic was also an early winner on Wednesday as the 17-year old hung on to beat 31st seeded Kurumi Nara of Japan 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.
