American twins Bob and Mike Bryan began their attempt at the pair’s 100th career title on Wednesday, defeating Max Mirnyi and Mikhail Youzhny 6-2, 6-3 in the first-round of the US Open. The top-seeded Bryan Brothers are seeking their fifth career US Open title while also trying to hit the century mark for overall championships.

While the twins are still ranked number one in the world, the pair has struggled somewhat over the past year. They have not won a Grand Slam since 2013 Wimbledon, and have won just one title since April (Cincinnati).

Despite the recent slide, the Bryan’s feel that they are playing some of their best tennis and are finally fully healthy.

“We’re feeling good and we’re healthy,” said Mike Bryan. “We’re going to put ourselves in position to win another one of these, if not this week, then soon.”

They faced no issue in their opening round match, ripping six aces and giving no service breaks in the straight set victory that lasted less than an hour.

They will play the winner of fellow Americans Jared Donaldson/Michael Russell and Noah Rubin/Stefan Kozlov in the second-round.
