Bob Bryan & Mike Bryan made history Sunday afternoon, capturing their 100th career team title, defeating Spain’s Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 6-3, 6-4 at the U.S. Open. The Bryans are slated for their 12th trip to the season-ending Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London this November. With the win Sunday, the Bryan Brothers are tied as the all-time U.S. Championships' doubles title leaders with five titles, a record co-owned by the team of Richard Sears & James Dwight.

“It's always sweet winning a Grand Slam, and this just adds some extra whip cream and cherries and nuts on top,” said Mike Bryan of the historic 100th title. “To win a slam for the 10th consecutive year, that was kind of in the back of our heads. We went out there and played a good match. We do get nervous. I think it was something like our 27th Grand Slam final and it felt like it was our first. We were jittery, and it was tough to eat, and tough to sleep, but we kind of rose above it.”

Granollers & Lopez, who had upset the Bryans in their last match at the 2014 French Open quarterfinals, wasted an early break point chance on Mike's serve in the third game. The Bryans received $520,000 in prize money and earned 2,000 Emirates ATP Rankings points for their 16th Grand Slam championship title

“The Jensens were one of our big idols and they gave back more than anyone and signed every autograph,” said Bob Bryan on who they have modeled their game after. “And then Agassi set a great example for all the young Americans to set up their foundations and raise money for good causes. As we get older, we're really trying harder to raise more money and do good in this game. You mature and you start to see the good you can do and the impact you can make on the youth. We'll start shifting our focus more to the foundation as our career winds down. Our dad, the Jensens, Agassi … they are all great role models for that.”

Granollers & Lopez had been attempting to become the first all-Spanish team to win a Grand Slam title since Sergio Casal & Emilio Sanchez won the men’s doubles title at Wimbledon in 1990.
