Stony Brook Women Knock Off Fordham for Fourth Consecutive Win

The women’s tennis team at Stony Brook continued its winning ways on Monday afternoon, knocking off the Fordham Rams 7-0 to win its fourth consecutive match and move to 10-1 on the season.

The win came a day after the Seawolves knocked off Binghamton 5-2 on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday, Stony Brook was led by its doubles tandems who took two out of the three matchups to notch the doubles points. Sophomre Nadia Smergut, who hails from New York City, paired up with junior Louise Badoche for an 8-5 victory at first doubles while Ukrainian senior Polina Movchan and Canadian freshman Yana Nikolaeva picked up an 8-2 win at second doubles.

The Seawolves got victories in all six of the singles contests.

The loss drops Fordham to 8-5 on the season.

Stony Brook will look to continue its strong start to 2015 when it hosts Marist on Friday, April 10.
