Madison Keys stormed into the semifinals of the Family Circle Cup on Friday afternoon, knocking out fellow American Lauren Davis 6-2, 6-2 in Charleston, S.C.

Davis managed to take an early 2-1 lead in the opening set, but Keys rattled off 11 of the next 13 games to move on in one hour and 13 minutes. Keys proved to be too powerful for the 5’2 Davis. She fired four aces in the match, with a number of serves topping 110 miles per hour.

In the post-match press conference, Keys compared her run this year to the quarterfinal run she made at the Family Circle Cup in 2013.

“I was definitely more of the underdog playing through it and hadn’t had as much success,” said Keys. “This year I’ve been the seed [and] I’ve been the one who’s supposed to win, and it’s a different pressure, for sure. And you know, so far it’s been going well.”

Keys will be the favorite once again in the semifinals when she takes on qualifier Lucie Hradecka. The Czech took out fourth-seed Italian Sara Errani 6-2, 6-4 in the afternoon session on Friday.

Hradecka used eight aces and five break points to move past Errani in one hour and 14 minutes.

Keys and Hradecka have never played one another.

The other semifinal will be set later today in Charleston when third-seeded German Andrea Petkovic takes on qualifier Danka Kovinic of Montenegro, while another German, Angelique Kerber, will meet Romania’s Irina-Camelia Begu.
