The United States women will be in Brindisi, Italy this weekend to battle Italy in a Fed Cup World Playoff match.

The two are very familiar opponents as this will be the fifth meeting between the two counties in the last seven years. Italy has taken the last four of those matches but the U.S. leads the overall series 9-4.  The last meeting came in the World Group Quarterfinals in Cleveland last year which Italy won 3-1, taking advantage of three first-time Fed Cup players for the Americans.

Earlier this week, the United States announced that Venus Williams will miss the weekend’s playoff because of a personal matter. She was replaced by 57th-ranked Lauren Davis, who will be making her Fed Cup singles debut.

The winner of the best-of-five series will move on to the World Group in 2016 where they will have a shot at the Fed Cup title.

The playoff will get underway at 7:00 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. Below is a look at the two matches slated for Saturday:

(1) Serena Williams vs. (36) Camila Giorgi
Serena enters this first singles contest with an 11-0 record in singles play at the Fed Cup, with her last match coming last year in Buenos Aires. Her opponent on the other side has plenty of Fed Cup experience as well. Giorgi will be playing in her fourth straight Fed Cup tie for Italy, going 2-2 in singles play in her previous matches.

“We all know from Cleveland last year that Camila is very dangerous,” said U.S. Captain Mary Joe Fernandez. “She hits the ball extremely hard and flat and goes for it. You have to be ready for anything playing Giorgi. She is coming off a good week by reaching a WTA final last week, so it will be tough.”

Serena and Giorgi have met just once before, a 6-2, 6-3 Serena win back in Charleston in 2013.

(15) Sara Errani vs. (57) Lauren Davis
Lauren Davis will be making her Fed Cup singles debut when she takes on 15th ranked Sara Errani. Davis played a doubles match with Madison Keys last year in Cleveland, but has a tall task in front of her replacing Venus Williams. The 57th-ranked American is coming off of a quarterfinal run in Charleston where she took out top-seeded Canadian Eugenie Bouchard.

“I am very excited and love being a part of this team of three great girls,” said Davis. “This will be my first singles match for Fed Cup, so it will be a great experience for me and great opportunity to play for my team.”

Errani holds an 11-8 singles record in Fed Cup matches for Italy and has played in 16 total Fed Cup ties for the Italians. She holds a 2-1 advantage over Davis in their all-time head-to-head series.

“With Errani, you have to work and earn your victory, especially on clay, since she is so consistent,” said Fernandez. “It comes down to discipline, constructing your points, and being patient with her. We are going to have two tough matches. Hopefully we can get quick starts and keep it up throughout the weekend.”

The other three matchups are scheduled to be:

Singles
Serena Williams (USA) vs. Sara Errani (ITA)
Lauren Davis (USA) vs. Camila Giorgi (ITA)

Doubles
Alison Riske & Christina McHale (USA) vs. Flavia Pennetta & Karin Knapp (ITA)
