Second-seeded Dane Caroline Wozniacki moved into the Aegon International semifinals on Thursday, cruising past 10th-seeded German Andrea Petkovic 7-5, 6-1 in the day’s final match.

The first set was a strange one, as there were nine break points overall. With neither player able to find rhythm on their serve, the set was even at 5-5, when Wozniacki broke through, winning two straight games to take the opener 7-5.

Petkovic converted on all four of her break point chances in the first set while Wozniacki broke five times on eight chances as each player won less than half of the points on their own serve.

In the second set, Wozniacki turned her game on. She won the first five games of the set, and after a Petkovic hold, closed it out on serve for the comfortable victory.

It is the third straight season that Wozniacki has reached the final four in Eastbourne. In the semis she will meet young Swiss star Belinda Bencic, who shook off a bad first set to defeat Great Britain’s Johanna Konta 2-6, 6-0, 6-3.

Ninth-seeded Pole Agnieszka Radwanska continued her excellent play this week with an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Tsvetana Pironkova to advance to the semifinals.

Radwanska did not allow a break point chance on her own serve, and broke Pironkova twice in each set to win in just over an hour.

She will meet American Sloane Stephens in the semis. Stephens advanced after top-seed Daria Gavrilova pulled out with a groin injury.
