Former Wimbledon champions Roger Federer and Andy Murray both reached the Wimbledon second-round on Tuesday, picking up straight set wins on a hot day at the All-England Club.

Federer, a seven-time champion at Wimbledon, looked extremely sharp in his 6-1, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Bosnia’s Damir Dzumhur. The Swiss hit just 12 unforced errors in the 67 minute match, converted five break points and won 81 percent of the points on his serve.

“I was happy I played aggressive,” said Federer of his performance. “I must say I’m very happy, always, to win like that.”

Federer wasted no time in this one. He averaged no more than nine seconds in between points on his serve, and wrapped this one up in a little over an hour.

In the second round, Federer will take on American Sam Querrey, who downed the Netherlands’ Igor Sijsling 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.

Murray, the 2013 champion here, needed a little more time than Federer in his opener, but still won in straight sets, beating Mikhail Kukushkin 6-4, 7-6(3), 6-4.

The Scot raced out to a 6-1 advantage in the second-set tiebreaker and then broke Kukushkin in the fifth game of the third set to secure his victory. Murray takes on Robin Haase, who beat Alejandro Falla 6-2, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, in the second-round.

Two-time champion Rafael Nadal defeated Brazil’s Thomaz Bellucci 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to advance on Tuesday.

“Here, the feeling in Wimbledon is so special, and playing on grass, too,” said Nadal. “So always is very emotional when you hit some good shots in this beautiful club. In general, it was a very positive victory. Straight sets. Not bad feelings.”

Nadal will play Germany’s Dustin Brown in the second-round. Brown ousted Chinese Taipei’s Yen-Hsun Lu 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4.

Two seeded players saw their tournaments come to an on the second day of Wimbledon. 31st-seeded American Jack Sock was bounced by Australian Sam Groth, who pulled out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Groth will play his compatriot James Duckworth, who beat Malek Jaziri 7-6(2), 6-2, 3-6, 3-6, 7-6.

Spain’s Pablo Andujar beat his countryman and 29th seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Andujar takes on Lukas Rosol in the second-round. Rosol beat Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis 7-6(2), 6-3, 7-6(4).
