Petra Kvitova continued her title defense at Wimbledon on Thursday, cruising past Japan’s Kurumi Nara 6-2, 6-0 in less than an hour.

Kvitova held Nara to just three winners in the match, while hitting 23 of her own. After a Nara hold pulled her within 2-4 in the opening set, Kvitova rattled off the next eight games to close out the match and move into the third-round.

“It wasn’t really easy. Of course the score looks very easy, but the few games that we played were really close,” said Kvitova. “I’m just glad I won. That’s the important thing, counting the last point. I still have a lot of space where I can improve for the next match, and that’s a good sign, as well.”

Kvitova has looked impressive in her first two matches at the All England Club. She has dropped just three games in those two matches, and will look to continue that run when she takes on 28th seed Jelena Jankovic, who beat Evgeniya Rodina 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-3.

There were a couple of upsets on the fourth day of Wimbledon, as both eighth-seed Ekaterina Makarova and 25th seed Alize Cornet were sent packing.

Makarova lost to Magdalena Rybarikova while Cornet was defeated by Olga Govortsova.

Fifth-seed Caroline Wozniacki started strong to come away with a 6-1, 7-6(6) victory over Denisa Allertova.

“At the end of the day, I won. I kept fighting,” Wozniacki said of the late surge from Allertova. “You know, that’s tennis sometimes. You need to win the last point. That’s when you know you’ve won. I’m just happy to be through.”

Wozniacki will take on 31st seed Camila Giorgi, who defeated Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino 6-0, 7-6(5).

21st seeded American Madison Keys also moved into the third-round with a 6-4, 7-6(3) win over Elizaveta Kulichkova. Keys will play Tatjana Maria who outlasted Ying-Ying Duan 1-6, 6-2, 10-8.
