Top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki breezed into the Toray Pan Pacific Open quarterfinals on Wednesday, downing rising star Ana Konjuh of Croatia 6-2, 6-2 to advance in Tokyo.

Wozniacki needed just 82 minutes to move past Konju in straight sets. She broke five times in nine chances, and saved two of the three break points she faced.

Wozniacki was playing in her first match since her second-round loss to Petra Cetkovska in the 2015 U.S. Open.

“It’s always tough when you haven’t played matches for awhile so I’m just happy to win this one and be through to the next round,” Wozniacki said. “There are a few things I want to work on but I’m happy with the victory. It’s always tough when you’re at the top of the rankings you always have a target on your back and the opponent often doesn’t have anything to lose. I love to be out here and I’m just looking forward to playing one more match.”

The former world number one will take on German Angelique Kerber in the quarterfinals. The fifth-seeded German came back from a set down to beat American Madison Brengle 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.

Wimbledon finalist Garbine Muguruza knocked off Barbora Strycova 6-3, 6-4 to move into the final eight in Tokyo. She will take on Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic next.
