The top-seeded women’s duo of Martina Hingis & Sania Mirza continued to dominate the rest of the doubles field, knocking off the seventh-seeded Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova & Lucie Hradecka 7-6(1), 6-3 to win the Australian Open Women's Doubles Title.

Neither team could do much on serve in the opening set, as each pair notched four break points. Hradecka & Hlavackova were serving for the set at 5-4, but were broken when a Hingis forehand clipped the line to send the set into a tie-breaker.

Hingis & Mirza won seven of the eight points in the tie-breaker to win the 62 minute opening set.

In the second set, Hingis & Mirza broke in the opening game after a Hradecka backhand sailed long, and another break would open up an insurmountable lead. Hradecka & Hlavackova would trim the lead to 2-4, but it was not enough, as Hingis & Mirza extended their match winning streak to 36 consecutive victories and hoisted the Australian Open trophy.

“Yeah, it’s amazing. Our fairytale continues,” said Hingis. “It’s amazing since winning Wimbledon. After that we only lost two more matches. It keeps going.”

The triumph in Melbourne is the third straight Grand Slam title for the Swiss-Indian duo, after winning Wimbledon and the U.S. Open to close out 2015.
