Juan Martin del Potro announced on Wednesday that he will be returning to the ATP World Tour at the Delray Beach Open, which begins on Feb. 15.

Del Potro played in just four tournaments in 2014 and two in 2015 following multiple wrist surgeries. The 2009 U.S. Open champion began training last fall, but was not yet ready to play in matches, but he announced via a YouTube video on Wednesday that he will play in Delray Beach.

“I wanted to share the news, and also the happiness that I feel, knowing that I will play in a tennis tournament once again after such a long time,” del Potro said in the video. “The uncertainty and all the bad moments I had to go through. So many mood swings, really difficult days that make you think about giving up. Still, I am lucky to be surrounded by great people. They wouldn’t let me fall. They were there in the right moments to support me and help me out during the most difficult moments in my career.”

Del Potro won the Del Ray Beach Open back in 2011, when he defeated Janko Tipsarevic in the final.

“We’ve been expecting this call,” said Delray Beach Open tournament director Mark Baron. “Juan Martin has always had Delray Beach in his comeback plans, and we’re happy to know that it’s come to fruition. We are rooting for him to be able to overcome his injury and hope he will have a successful comeback.”
