Resuming a match originally started on Tuesday, world number one Novak Djokovic knocked off Spain’s Roberto Bautista-Agut 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 on Wednesday to reach the French Open quarterfinals, the 28th consecutive Grand Slam where he has advanced to the final eight.

Djokovic and Bautista-Agut had split the first two sets and Djokovic opened up a 4-1 advantage in the third before play was halted on Tuesday. When play picked up on Wednesday, the Serb quickly won the final two games of the set to take the two-sets-to-one lead.

The 14th-seeded Bautista-Agut would not go out without a fight, though, as he got a break advantage and held a lead in the fourth set. But Djoker was just too strong, rattling off four straight games to close things out and book his spot in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic will take on seventh-seed Tomas Berdych in the quarterfinals. Berdych looked in top form in his fourth-round match Wednesday, moving past 11th-seeded David Ferrer, 6-3, 7-5, 6-3, to reach the French Open quarterfinals for the third time in the last four years.

Austria’s Dominic Thiem advanced to the first Grand Slam quarterfinals of his career, getting past lucky loser Marcel Granollers 6-2, 6-7(2), 6-1, 6-4.

Thiem is the first Austrian man to reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal since Jurgen Melzer did so in Paris back in 2010.

Up next for Thiem is 12th seeded Belgian David Goffin, who came back from a set down to beat Latvia’s Ernests Gulbis 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3.
