Agnieszka Radwanska entered Thursday’s semifinal at the Apia International Sydney having never lost to the Czech Republic’s Barbora Strycova.

That didn’t change on Thursday, as Radwanska dismissed Strycova 6-1, 6-2 in just over an hour to advance to the Sydney final.

“I think I’m playing better and better each match. I think I was doing everything right today, and I cannot really complain about anything,” said Radwanska. “I really like to play in Australia. I love the courts. I feel very comfortable here. So I’m just very happy to make another final, especially here when it’s always a very strong tournament.”

Radwanska converted on three break points in the opening set and two more in the second set, winning all but three points on her serve in the second set to move past Strycova for the seventh straight time.

In the final, the second-seeded Pole will face off with sixth-seed Johanna Konta of Great Britain. Konta upended a resurgent Eugenie Bouchard 6-2, 6-2 to reach the title match.

Konta made the most of her return game, converting on six of nine break point chances to move past Bouchard in a little over an hour.

Radwanska has won both of the previous meetings between her and Konta, including last year’s Beijing final.

“I’ve played her twice before. Lost twice,” Konta said. “So hopefully I’ll do a better job tomorrow.”

On the men’s side, Great Britain’s Daniel Evans secured the tournament’s top upset as he knocked off top-seed Dominic Thiem of Austria 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the semifinals.

“It’s probably my best win,” said Evans. “It was a good match. I fought really hard to try and get the twin and come out on top. I tried to come forward a bit more in the second set, so I played the first set sort of on his terms.

I didn’t have much to lose…I believed I could win going out onto the court.”

In the semifinals, Evans will take on Andrey Kuznetsov, who knocked off Pablo Carreno Busta 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 to reach the final four.

The other semifinal in Sydney will see Gilles Muller take on Viktor Troicki.
