Beacon, Bronx Science Notch Friday Wins

Beacon, the defending New York City champions, improved to 8-0 on the season on Friday afternoon, beating Hunter 5-0 for its sixth shutout victory of the season.

The Bergmann duo, Kyra and Lorraine, won their matches at first and second singles, respectively, by the scores of 8-0 to lead the way for Beacon. Sofia Shen won 8-3 over Emma Diaz at third singles and Beacon would win the two doubles flights to round out the win.

Bronx Science remained two games behind Beacon in the PSAL A3 standings by notching a 3-1 win over Eleanor Roosevelt on Friday to move to 6-2 on the year. Christina Huynh won 10-1 over Sheyna Karen at first singles to anchor the Wolverines win.
