Brooklyn Tech Upends Madison for Spot in PSAL Quarterfinals

The Brooklyn Tech Engineers moved into the quarterfinals of the “A” Division of the PSAL playoffs on Thursday afternoon, defeating 14th-seeded James Madison 4-1 at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Sophomore Nicole Semenov continued her outstanding play this season, remaining undefeated in singles action with a 10-0 win over Madison’s Rosa Aksanov.

Chelsea Williams and Maryna Bohdanovska would add victories at second and third singles to push Brooklyn Tech past Madison and into a quarterfinal matchup with third-seeded Cardozo.

In the “B” Division, fifth-seeded Scholars Academy advanced to the quarterfinals with a 4-1 victory over the number 12 seed, RFK.

Victoria Nowinski helped lead the charge for Scholars Academy, edging Amy Cao of RFK 10-7 at second singles.

Up next for Scholars Academy is a quarterfinal matchup with fourth-seed Newcomers.
