USTA Eastern’s Schnitzer Named PTR New York Member of the Year

Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last week during the 2016 PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, was held February 17-20 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Jenny Schnitzer, of Slate Hill, New York, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State.  This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.

A PTR member since 1993, Schnitzer serves as USTA Eastern’s Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.  She has been with the USTA for the past 23 years.  In her current role, she oversees all departments, including Competitive, Community, Finance and Marketing & Communications.  She provides training, supervision and support to all section staff, including the regional Tennis Service Representatives.  Previously, Schnitzer worked as USTA Eastern’s Assistant Executive Director, where she was responsible for developing a plan with an emphasis on growing tennis at the community level.  In her spare time, she teaches Youth Tennis at Matchpoint Tennis in Goshen, New York.  

Schnitzer has been instrumental in hosting the PTR tract at the USTA Annual Meeting and Professional Development Weekend.  She is an advocate for PTR education and an ambassador of the game.
