Livianu Captures USTA National Indoors Singles, Doubles Title

St. John’s freshman Jessica Livianu captured the Women’s Open Singles title at the USTA National Indoor Championships over the weekend, defeating Notre Dame commit Caroline Dunleavy 7-5, 7-6(2) in the final.

The fifth-seeded Livianu won her final four matches in straight sets following a comeback 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Maryam Ahmad in her opening contest.

Livianu also won the Women’s Doubles title, pairing with Dartmouth’s Taylor Ng to beat Rachel Lim and Mia Rabinowitz 7-5, 6-3 in the championship.

In Men’s Singles, William and Mary’s Aidan Talcott, of Sea Cliff, came back from a set down to beat Cornell’s Daniel Grunberger 4-6, 7-6(6), 7-5 in the final.
