US Open Announces Featured Music and Entertainment

The USTA today announced an extensive line-up of musical talent that will entertain fans over the course of the three-week 2019 US Open.  Beginning with Fan Week and concluding with the men’s singles championship, the US Open will feature a diverse array of talents representing all musical genres crossing from country to Broadway and from indie rock to R&B.

US Open Fan Week, which begins Monday, August 19, will feature Chase Sound Check concerts, three nights of free live music from the Fan Week Center Stage located just outside Arthur Ashe Stadium.  Heineken will present the Heineken Happy Hour with notable DJs from Tuesday through Friday of Fan Week.

Chase Soundcheck

Wednesday, August 21 8:00 p.m.
LANY: Popular indie rock band from Los Angeles takes the Fan Week Center Stage on Wednesday evening, the first of three free concerts during US Open Fan Week. 

Thursday, August 22 8:00 p.m.
Brett Eldredge: Popular country music star, with seven No. 1 country radio hits, takes the stage on Thursday.

Friday, August 23 8:00 p.m.
Leon Bridges: Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter and performer, with the recently released album Good Thing, concludes the three-night concert series on Friday.


Heineken Happy Hour 6-8:00 p.m.
Each evening from Tuesday through Friday, Heineken will present the Heineken Happy Hour from the Fan Week Center Stage with an expected start time of 6 pm each evening.  The Happy Hours will feature a number of cutting-edge DJ’s including Nikki Kynard, COCO AND BREEZY, and MAAD.

Heineken also will continue to host a nightly happy hour during the US Open main draw from a ground-level terrace location between Arthur Ashe Stadium and Louis Armstrong Stadium.


24th Annual Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day powered by Net Generation
The world’s largest single-day grassroots tennis and entertainment event takes place on Saturday, August 24, and airs Sunday, August 25, at 2:00 p.m. ET on ABC, and will feature a number of new and up-and-coming musical performers. Radio Disney Country and “TrailerTrap” artist Blanco Brown will bring his “Git Up Challenge” to the stage, where he will join iHeart 2019 Best New Pop Artist nominee MAX, MTV VMA Best New Artist nominee and Atlantic Records recording artist Ava Max.  Meg Donnelly, Radio Disney “NBT” alum, and star of ABC’s American Housewife and Disney’s Zombies 2, will perform and co-host the show along with Hollywood Records recording artist and star of The Lion King,  JD McCrary and Radio Disney host Morgan Thompkins. They will be joined for the stadium show by defending US Open men’s singles champion Novak Djokovic, three-time US Open champion Rafael Nadal, 2017 US Open women’s singles champion Sloane Stephens, and the winningest doubles team in tennis history – Bob and Mike Bryan. Around the grounds of the all-day festival will be a host of musical talents, including JAGMAC, Stefan Benz and Jenna Raine, who will be featured on the AAKD Festival Stage.  

During the Main Draw of the US Open, a trio of Broadway stars will be featured in Arthur Ashe Stadium as part of the tournament’s annual Opening Night Ceremony and Finals Weekend Celebration.


Opening Night
Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award-winning vocalist, actor and Atlantic Records recording artist Ben Platt headlines the Opening Night Ceremony in Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday evening, August 26.  A 2017 Tony Award winner for his performance in Dear Evan Hansen, Platt recently released his critically acclaimed debut solo album Sing to Me Instead, and stars in the upcoming Netflix series from Ryan Murphy, The Politician.   Following Platt’s performance, Ali Stroker, who earned a 2019 Tony for her performance in the revival of Oklahoma!, will perform the national anthem. Stroker made her Broadway debut in the revival of Spring Awakening, becoming the first actor in a wheelchair to appear on Broadway.


Finals Weekend
Tony nominee Adrienne Warren, who will reprise her role as Tina Turner on Broadway this fall in Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, will take the court prior to the women’s singles final. Warren recently earned an Olivier Award nomination for the role she originated in London’s West End. She will perform America the Beautiful as a giant American flag is unfurled by an all-female honor guard comprised of cadets from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
