Long Island’s Noah Rubin had his U.S. Open qualifying round come to an end on Friday afternoon in front of a capacity crowd on Court 11 of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, as third-seeded Russian Karen Khachanov outlasted Rubin 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to qualify for the 2016 U.S. Open main draw.

In a complete juxtaposition to his first-round qualifying match on Wednesday, Long Island’s Noah Rubin had to go the distance on Thursday, staving off Germany’s Michael Berrer and a rain delay to advance to the final round of U.S. Open qualifying with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 victory.
