The 2012 Australian Open champion, world number one-ranked Novak Djokovic, will not participate in Serbia’s Davis Cup match against Sweden in March. He will be given rest after his long series of matches during the Australia Open, including his finals match with Spain’s Rafael Nadal which clocked in just under six hours.

Serbian Captain Bogdan Obradovic said, "we want to spare Djokovic to help him retain the world’s number one player spot and win gold at the Olympic Games in London."

Serbia defeated Sweden last year 4-1 in an away match in last year’s Davis Cup. Ninth-ranked Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki will now lead Serbia into the Feb. 10 match in Nis, Serbia.
