Maria Sharapova from Russia and Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark will front the two round-robin pools for the WTA Championships to be held in Turkey this upcoming week. In the red pool, Wozniacki will be joined by Petra Kvitova, Vera Zvonareva, and Agnieszka Radwanska. In the white pool, Sharapova will be joined by Victoria Azarenka, Li Na, and 2011 U.S. Open champ, Samantha Stosur.

“I think we all know what to expect going into the groups. It’s the top eight girls of the year. You’re going to get a tough group both ways and a tough opponent. I think it’s just a matter of being ready from the first round on," said Sharapova.

Each player will face the three other respective players in their pool with the top two finishers advancing. Both Williams sisters will not be competing in this draw as they did not make the cut this year to advance. Wozniacki says shes preparing for a tough match as she is yet to win a major in her career despite being ranked number one.
Play commences at the Sinan Erdem Arena in Istanbul which will be home to the $5 million event through 2013.
