The United States Tennis Association (USTA) has announced that long-time retail marketing expert Amy Choyne has been named USTA Chief Marketing Officer. Choyne will begin in the position on May 31 and will report to USTA Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Gordon Smith.

The USTA and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) have announced that Chairman of the Board, CEO and President Katrina Adams will be inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs Alumni Hall of Fame during a ceremony in New Orleans. Adams will become the first individual, on or off the court, to represent the sport of tennis in the Boys & Girls Clubs Alumni Hall of Fame.

The 2015 Midwest All-Comers Wheelchair Tennis Camp took place in December at Purdue University's Schwartz Tennis Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Nearly 20 wheelchair tennis players from around the country participated in the four-day training camp.

The USTA announced on Wednesday that the US Open National Playoffs will be held for the seventh season this year, expanding the footprint of the US Open to cities nationwide by providing the opportunity for all players 14 years of age and older to earn a berth into all five draws at the US Open. Tennis players of all levels can compete in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) presented its annual awards last week during the 2016 PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes more than 40 educational presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, was held February 17-20 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.Jenny Schnitzer, of Slate Hill, New York, has been named PTR Member of the Year for the State.  This award is presented to a PTR member who has shown dedication and diligence in promoting and supporting tennis and PTR.

The Washington Heights Tennis Association (WHTA), founded by Eligio “Leo” Reynoso, recently hosted a lively and interactive youth tennis demonstration. Kids enrolled in the WHTA program had the opportunity to demonstrate some of their tennis skills using the 10 & Under platform. The older kids had the opportunity to display their form and finesse.

The Knickerbocker Field Club located in the Prospect Park South neighborhood of Brooklyn offers a free neighborhood tennis clinic for children ages six through 18, two afternoons a week throughout the summer. The program began in 2003, with about 30 neighborhood children, and has grown to more than 75 kids of all ages and skill levels.
