Claude Okin, founder and CEO of SPORTIME, will serve as the coach of the NY Sportimes for the 2013 season. Okin, who has been an active force in the Sportimes' success as the owner of the Mylan World TeamTennis squad since the 2003 WTT season, will take on the coaching duties for the first time.

German standout Anna-Lena Groenefeld, a former top-15 singles player currently ranked at 19th in the world in doubles, has been selected by the NY Sportimes in the Mylan WTT Roster Draft in Indian Wells, Calif. Groenefeld, who competed for the Orange County Breakers in 2012, will be joined by her doubles partner, Kveta Peschke, formerly number one in doubles and now ranked 17th.

Andy Roddick is returning to the tennis courts this summer. The former world number one was the top pick in the 2013 Mylan World TeamTennis Marquee Draft. Roddick, who first started with Mylan WTT in 2000, will play for the Springfield Lasers. This will be Roddick's seventh Mylan WTT season and his first since 2010.

The Eastern Conference Championship match was tied at 14 games all with one match to play. With the final match of the night being the Women’s Singles match that meant Venus Williams (Kastles) would face Ashley Harkelroad (Sportimes) to determine which team would face the Sacramento Capitals (Western Conference Champions) in the 2012 WTT Finals.

The New York Sportimes were the second best team in the 2012 WorldTeamTennis season, and with a 9-5 record, the Sportimes qualified for the 2012 WTT Playoffs. On Saturday, Sept. 15, the Sportimes will face off against the defending champion Washington Kastles for the Eastern Conference Championship.

The New York Sportimes took the court for their final home match of the season Wednesday night, July 25, hosting the undefeated Washington Kastles at Randall’s Island where legends John McEnroe and Martina Hingis participated in the night’s events. With close to a full crowd that came out to support the home team one last time, there was a nice energy inside the stadium.

For New York tennis fans, Randall’s Island was the place to be last night as the New York Sportimes defeated the Boston Lobsters 22-18 in World TeamTennis action. Featuring two hall-of-famers, the Thursday night matchup created quite the buzz with the largest turnout so far this season.

Several of the biggest names in tennis came together at the 19th annual WTT Smash Hits presented by GEICO at Cleveland Public Hall, raising more than $500,000 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Sportimes Stadium at Randall’s Island was bubbling with excitement last night as the New York Sportimes took on the Washington Kastles in World TeamTennis action to close out the 2011 WTT season. Despite impressive play from the Sportimes team, the Kastles proved too much to handle as they clinched the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 23-15 win.
