The second round of singles play comes to a close on Thursday at the US Open, as Day Four at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center presents a number of intriguing matchups.

Opening up play inside Arthur Ashe Stadium will be 2016 champion Angelique Kerber as she takes on Sweden’s Johanna Larsson. The fourth-seeded German is 3-0 all-time against Larsson, including a routine straight-sets victory in Miami earlier this year.

Following Kerber-Larsson on Ashe will be second-seed Roger Federer squaring off against Frenchman Benoit Paire. Federer, a five-time US Open champion, looks to improve on his 6-0 record all-time versus Paire.

Fourth-seed Alex Zverev, sixth-seed Novak Djokovic, seventh-seed Marin Cilic and young American Frances Tiafoe are all in action as well on Thursday.

American Madison Keys, the 14th seed, second-seed Caroline Wozniacki and fifth-seed Petra Kvitova highlight the action inside the new Louis Armstrong Stadium.

Thursday also brings the second day of the doubles draws, highlighted by the third-seeded American duo of Jack Sock and Mike Bryan, as they take on Italians Marco Cecchinato  and Daniele Bracciali.

New Yorkers Noah Rubin and Jamie Loeb will meet the top-seeded pair of Gabriela Dabrowski and Mate Pavic in the opening round of mixed doubles.
