It has been quite the week in Auckland, New Zealand for Canadian teenager Bianca Andreescu.

The 18-year old took out former No. 1 and top-seed Caroline Wozniacki in the second round, and followed that up with a 6-7(1), 6-1, 6-3 win over another former No. 1 in Venus Williams to reach the semifinals on Friday.

Andreescu dropped the first set and was then broken to begin the second set, but recovered to win the next 11 games and pull off the upset.

“I believe that anything is possible and tonight I think I did the impossible,” said Andreescu. “My goal was only to qualify and maybe get a couple of rounds in but now I beat a couple of top players so who knows. I believed in myself to the end. I fought and I really enjoyed myself.”

Andreescu will take on third-seeded Su-Wei Hsieh for a spot in the final.

The other semifinal in Auckland will see defending champion and second-seed Julia Goerges squaring off against Viktoria Kuzmova.
