Soderling Defeats Ferrer to Capture Swedish Open

Fifth-ranked Robin Soderling of Sweden defeated David Ferrer of Spain to capture the Swedish Open title. This is Soderlings second title at the Swedish Open in just the past three years.

In the seventh game of the first set, Soderling broke Ferrer’s serve to lead 5-2, and followed the break up with a hold to capture the first set 6-2.

Ferrer was unable to make up lost ground and was down in the second set 4-0 to Soderling who would then take the title in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Soderling now has a overall match record against Ferrer of 10-4.
