Jo-Wifried Tsonga along with Caroline Wozniacki have moved onto the quarterfinals at the China Open. Tsonga defeated Zheng Ze of China, 6-3, 6-4, and Wozniacki defeated Kaia Kanpei of Estonia 6-3, 7-6 (3). Wozniacki has shown improvement since her last lost to Kanepi at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.

"I knew it was going to be a tough match. I’m really happy to get this win and get my revenge," said Wozniacki. Wozniacki will now go up against Flavia Penneta who defeated Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Tsonga won a tournament in his home in Metz in September and is now going for one of four remaining spots at the ATP World Tour Finals held in London. He will now play against Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain who defeated Marcel Granollers in straight sets to advance.

"I think he’s a great player. He’s in good shape and he’s been playing very good tennis most of the season on the hard courts, and of course he’s one of the favorites to win the tournament," said Ferrero.

In other matches, Tomas Berdych will face Fernando Verdasco and Ivan Ljubicic will face Mikhail Youzhny in the quarterfinals on Oct. 7.
