At the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris, Roger Federer of Switzerland won his 800th career match, a 6-3, 7-5 win over Argentina’s Juan Monaco. The win advances Federer, currently ranked fourth in the world, to the semifinals of the BNP Paribas Masters. Awaiting Federer in the semis is Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic, who stunned world’s number three-ranked Andy Murray of Great Britain, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4.

Federer hit seven aces and hit 25 winners compared to only eight for Monaco. Federer won five straight games to rally from a 3-1 deficit and took the first set when Monaco netted a backhand.
