The American doubles team of Bob & Mike Bryan have broken John McEnroe’s record for the most weeks atop the individual doubles rankings. The top-ranked twins are tied with each other at 271 weeks.

"John McEnroe is a legend. He’s definitely one of the best doubles players in history," said Bob Bryan in an interview with the ATP. "We respect and admire what he’s brought to the sport. To be grouped in the same category and mentioned in the same breath as McEnroe is an honour in itself. We play against McEnroe in exhibitions and he still shows what a talent he is."

The also ATP noted that at 271 weeks, the Bryans are just 15 weeks behind Pete Sampras at 286 weeks as number one, in singles, and just 14 weeks behind Roger Federer. The Bryans have won 75 titles overall, compared to 70 for Federer and 64 for Sampras.
