Angelique Kerber defeated Agnieszka Radwanska on Thursday at the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships-Istanbul, 6-2, 6-2, eliminating Radwanska from the event.

"It's not easy to play well against Aga—you need to be focused on every point—so that's what I tried to do," Kerber said. "I was playing very well from the first point to the last and I'm really happy with how I played. I'm feeling very good about my game and I hope I can continue like this."

The standings in the Red Group will now come down to just one match on Friday—Serena Williams has already secured first place as she has gone 3-0, and Kerber and Petra Kvitova will play for second place on Friday as they are both now 1-1. Radwanska rounds out the group with an 0-3 win-loss record. Kvitova and Kerber are tied in their head-to-head series, 2-2, though Kvitova won their only previous 2013 meeting at Tokyo just a few weeks ago, 6-2, 0-6, 6-3.

Radwanska finishes 2013 with three titles at Auckland, Sydney and Seoul, and a 56-19 overall record.
Also on Thursday, it Li Na defeated Jelena Jankovic, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Li had defeated Jankovic in the fourth round of the U.S. Open 6-3, 6-0 a few weeks back. It is Li's third time playing in Istanbul, but the first time she has won two matches. She has not qualified for the semifinals yet, as that will come down to Friday's White Group matches.
"At least I'm one more step now … that's pretty good news," Li said. "I play Vika now. She's always a tough opponent. But right now I have nothing to lose, so I'm just going to play and enjoy the time."

Li is now 2-0 in the White Group, while Jankovic and Victoria Azarenka are 1-1, and Sara Errani 0-2.
