John McEnroe Tennis Academy Scholarship Tryouts will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, located on Randall’s Island, One Randall’s Island in New York, N.Y. Full- and half-year scholarships will be awarded.
Proper tennis attire must be worn. Player locker and shower facilities will be available and food and beverages are available for purchase at the SPORTIME Courtside Café. Water will be available on-court. Full-service pro-shop and stringing service available on-site.
Schedule of the day's events
8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Check-In and Registration
9:00 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Players are divided into groups for on-court technical evaluation
10:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. Water/refreshment break/judges for preliminary evaluations
10:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Players are divided into groups for on-court tactical evaluation
12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Lunch/Evaluation Committee selects semi-finalists (non semi-finalists go home)
1:30 p.m.-3:15 p.m. Semi-finalists return to courts for further evaluation and point play, and undergo physical performance testing
Approx 3:30 p.m. Evaluation Committee commences final review (results of 2014 JMTA Tryout Day to be announced by Sunday, July 6, 2014)
