World number one-ranked junior Taylor Fritz of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif. captured the U.S. Open Boys Singles title on Sunday, defeating fellow countryman and number five seed Tommy Paul, 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-2, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Fritz joins Paul, who beat Fritz in the French Open Boys Final in June, and Reilly Opelka (Wimbledon) as Americans to win Grand Slam boys' singles titles this year. Fritz's victory marks the first time since the U.S. Open began hosting junior championships in 1973 that three different American boys won junior Slam titles in the same year.

"I thought I played very well, actually," said Fritz after the match. "Minus the serving, minus how the serving kind of lost me when I came back after the rain delay, besides that, I thought I played very well the whole time, especially towards the end from the ground. I thought it was a very good match."

Paul said, "Here obviously I played to come out and have fun at the U.S. Open, and have fun with the home crowd. I felt I had a lot of fun out here. I was really happy with my tournament."

In the Boys Doubles Final, the American team of Brandon Holt & Riley Smith lost to the Canadian pair of Felix Auger-Aliassime & Denis Shapovalov, 7-5, 7-6(3).
