Francis Lewis Trips Up Cardozo In Queens A

The Francis Lewis Patriots won its third straight contest on Wednesday afternoon, downing Cardozo 3-2 in a battle of the second and third place teams in New York City’s Queens A division.

Cardozo’s top two singles players were able to continue their outstanding play, as Kai Yuminaga beat Jeremy Breland 10-5 at first singles and William Kofman beat Waley Chen 11-9 at second singles.

But Francis Lewis’ Keenan Duong got a huge win at third singles, edging Ye Chan Shin of Cardozo 11-9 to take one of the singles points. The Patriots would go on to win the two doubles matches as well to clinch the victory.

In the first doubles spot, Adrian Tam and Ervin Wong defeated Anmol Malhotra and Tony Leung 10-6 while Justin Schreiber and Nathaniel Samuels downed Diego Escobar and Kalinga De Alwis 10-5 at second doubles.
