USF’s Grayson Goldin Wins Tampa Bay One-on-One Doubles Title

The $2,000 Tampa Bay One-On-One Doubles Shootout, held at the FishHawk Ranch Tennis Club in Lithia, Fl., was won by Grayson Goldin. Goldin defeated Argentina's Facundo Mena 4-1 in the final to capture the tournament's first place prize of $1,000.

Ashley Fisher, Head Men's Tennis Coach at the University of South Florida and a former top 20 ATP Doubles player, won the third place match over one of his South Florida players, Vadym Kalyuzhnyy, 4-2.

"This event was an ACE! Our FishHawk Ranch students and residents saw some top level tennis on their home courts. It was a beautiful day to watch some incredible tennis from ATP level professionals and top collegiate players all with great live music! Both spectators and players had a great time,” said FishHawk’s Tennis Director Dave Freiman. “Special thanks to my club's Board of Directors for approving this event and to my staff for all their hard work. We look to make this an annual event."

The round robin on the club's five courts allowed for a maximum of 12 games for each player to win. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals were all played first to win four games, no-ad, and a 9-point tiebreaker played at 3-3.

The next One-On-One Doubles Tournaments will be held in New York. On Saturday, April 29, the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center will host the USTA National CAT III One-On-One Doubles Tournament starting at 4:00 pm.

On June 2, Sportime Westchester will host a $2,000 One-On-One Doubles Shootout, from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester, NY. The club will also host both Men's and Women's 4.5 NTRP One-On-One Doubles shootouts on June 3 from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  All three tournaments will have the game's customary live rockin' blues music adding to the excitement.
