Roger Federer continued his resurgent year Sunday at the Miami Open, capturing the title in Miami with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Rafael Nadal in just over 90 minutes. With the win, Federer moves into fourth in the ATP Men’s Singles Rankings. Federer is now 19-1 on the year, his best start of a year since 2006 when he went 33-1, and moves to 14-23 in 37 career meetings.

Nadal came into the match seeking revenge after falling at both the Australian Open in the finals and in the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open.

"I think that I was close," said Nadal. "I think I was close enough to win the first set. It was not my day. It is true that when somebody is coming with that dynamic like him that he's winning a lot, all the things are going your way.”

Federer said, “"What a start to the year, I can't believe it. Thanks to everyone who has supported me this year and in the difficult times last year."
