In a battle of two of New York City’s top teams on Wednesday, it was Beacon, the nine-time defending PSAL champions, who came out on top as the Blue Demons defeated Stuyvesant 5-0 to improve to 3-0 on the season.

With Ethan Leon out, Marcos Lee stepped into the first singles role for Beacon and recorded a tough 9-7 win over Stuyvesant’s Nicholas Pustilnik, while Felix Levine beat Derek Lung 8-3 at second singles to lead the way.

Beacon would not be denied on Wednesday as it played consistent, winning tennis down the lineup. Julian Szuper won 8-4 over Michael Kaydin at third singles to round out the singles scoring. In doubles, Donovan Brown and Lucas Larese de Santo paired up to win 8-3 in first doubles, and Connor Dunne and Zuhri Sinclair didn’t drop a game in an 8-0 win over Isaac Rose Berman and Maxim Blyakherov in second doubles.
