SPORTIME and The John McEnroe Tennis Academy (JMTA) today announced that JMTA Co‐Director Patrick McEnroe will be overseeing summer tennis training at the JMTA satellite at SPORTIME Amagansett, in the Town of East Hampton, beginning in summer 2017.

Since January, 2017, JMTA students and families at SPORTIME Randall’s Island, the Company’s 20‐court Flagship club in Manhattan, and the flagship home of JMTA, have enjoyed welcoming Patrick McEnroe to the SPORTIME/JMTA team.

Explains SPORTIME’s CEO, Claude Okin, who started the Company with his first club in Amagansett, in 1989, “As Patrick has settled into his role as JMTA Co‐Director, his active engagement, his obvious dedication, and his impressive wealth of tennis know‐how, have been embraced by all.  We are certainly lucky to have Patrick supporting John’s vision and our mission.  His impact at Amagansett JMTA this summer, and his presence out east during the month of August, is going to be awesome!”

McEnroe will be joined in Amagansett by JMTA Amagansett’s Director and JMTA Randall’s Island coach, Dan Cochrane, by JMTA Amagansett’s Assistant Director and Randall’s Island Coach Tarun Kishan, by JMTA Randall’s Island coaches Jan Kuncik and Milo Hauk, and by SPORTIME Amagansett’s seasonal coaching staff of college and international coaches.

In addition to providing oversight, Patrick will be in residence at SPORTIME Amagansett during the month of August, 2017, working with students and coaches at daily JMTA sessions.

Patrick McEnroe won one singles title and 16 doubles titles, including the 1989 French Open Men's Doubles title, during his 10‐year professional career, and achieved career‐high rankings of World No. 28 in singles and World No. 3 in doubles.

After retiring from the tour in 1998, Patrick had a successful run as U.S. Davis Cup captain, winning the cup in 2007. After leaving his Davis Cup role in 2010, McEnroe focused on his television commentary work, and also led the player development charge for the USTA until 2014.

In addition to his new role at SPORTIME, McEnroe continues to be one of pro tennis’ premier television commentators. McEnroe is a life‐long New Yorker, where he lives with his wife, Broadway star and actress Melissa Errico and their three daughters.

McEnroe shares, “I am really looking forward to being a part of the team at SPORTIME Amagansett, and to enjoying the area with my family.  For players and parents looking for a great junior tennis training experience in the Hamptons this summer, JMTA Amagansett will be the place to be!  I am looking forward to meeting and working with lots of great tennis kids and families.”
