World number one and top-seed Ashleigh Barty and eighth-seed Karolina Pliskova will play for the Wimbledon title on Saturday, after each won their respective semifinal on Thursday.

Barty was the first through, as she defeated former champion and 25th seed Angelique Kerber 6-3, 7-6(3). The Australian was nearly perfect as she hit 38 winners to just 16 unforced errors, and won 88 percent of the points on her first serve.

“Being able to have an opportunity to play in a final here at Wimbledon is incredible,” Barty said afterwards. “That match was a great level, the best level I’ve played in quite some time. I think Angie is an incredible competitor. She brought out the best in me today.”

Pliskova entered her semifinal having not dropped a set throughout the tournament, but quickly found herself behind as second-seed Aryna Sabalenka broke late to take the opening set 7-5. But the Czech responded with a break early in the second, and never looked back.

She did not face another break point the rest of the way and completed the 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 comeback to reach her second career Grand Slam final.

Barty leads the head-to-head with Pliskova 5-2.
