Beacon, the defending PSAL “A” Division Champions, moved into the semifinals of this year’s playoffs on Friday afternoon, downing Stuyvesant 5-0.

Beacon was led by the Bergmann sisters at the top of its lineup. Kyra Bergmann notched a 8-5 victory over Celina Liu at first singles, while Lorraine Bergmann downed Marie Mich Ivantechenko 8-2 in the second singles spot.

Sofia Shen would win 8-2 at third singles, and Beacon took both doubles flights to round out the scoring and secure the victory.

In the semifinals, second-seeded Beacon will face off against third-seed Bronx Science in a rematch of last year’s New York City championship.

The other semifinal in the “A” Division will see top-seed Brooklyn Tech take on fourth-seed Francis Lewis.

In the PSAL “B” Division, top-seed Lab Museum plays fifth-seed Bard and third-seed Maspeth battles 10th seed Grover Cleveland in the semifinals.
