Bob and Mike Bryan won the Delray Beach Open doubles title for the fifth time in their careers on Sunday, defeating a different pair of brothers, Ken and Neal Skupski, 7-6(5), 6-4.

It’s the brother’s 117th title overall, but their first since last April in Monte Carlo. It was after that tournament that Bob Bryan would miss the rest of the year with a hip injury.

“We’re very, very pleased with how this one’s gone,” said Bob. “Expectations, I think, for me have been a little lower than they have in the past. We’ve just been trying to have fun and enjoy our time together and it’s actually resulted in some really good play. To win here now in my home tournament and to have my family here to take it in with me is extra special.”

While Bob recovered from surgery on his hip, Mike teamed up with Jack Sock to win titles at Wimbledon, U.S. Open and the ATP Finals. But last month, Bob and Mike returned to the court together, and on Sunday, the duo returned to their winning ways.

“A couple months ago, I truly didn’t know if the injury was going to hold up in a professional match,” Bob added. “I really hadn’t had a practice session in December where it didn’t fatigue or get stiff. It’s progressed really well. Who knows how great it’s going to get, but it feels like it’s still getting better.”

“We don’t want to stop here,” added Mike. “We want to keep rolling and hold up bigger trophies, hopefully a Masters series in the near future and then a Grand Slam.”
