The playoffs in New York City are underway with action being played in the first few rounds of both the “A” and “B” Division playoffs. Susan Wagner and Cardozo were two of the winners who advanced to the “A” Division quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon.

Cardozo took on Port Richmond and swept all five courts to notch the 5-0 victory.

The top two singles players for Cardozo won 10-0, as Emily Moczulski and Kristine Ngo won their matches at first and second singles, respectively, to lead the way.

Cardozo moves on to play fifth-seed McKee/Staten Island Tech on Thursday.

Susan Wagner snuck past Curtis 3-2 behind the strong play of its doubles teams. Jillian Degeorge and Yuki Mak won 10-5 against Karen Quang and Queenie Adams at first doubles, while Fernanda Martins and Jenna Barash beat Ama Gunaratna and Yana Svirko 10-1 at second doubles to lead Susan Wagner into the final eight.

Awaiting the Falcons in the quarterfinals is sixth-seed Townsend Harris.
