At the end of each year, the International Tennis Federation unveils its World Champions, and this year it named Novak Djokovic and Simona Halep the 2018 World Champions.

Both players enjoyed excellent 2019 seasons, as Djokovic won both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, while Halep captured the first Grand Slam title of her career when she triumphed at the French Open.

“I am particularly proud of this achievement after all that I’ve been through physically this year, but part of me always believed I could make it back to the top,” said Djokovic.

It was the sixth time Djokovic has been honored by the ITF with this award, and the first time for Halep.

“To be recognized in this way is really special and provides extra motiviation to keep working for next season,” said Halep.

Mike Bryan and Jack Sock were named the ITF World Champions in men’s doubles, while Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won the women’s doubles honor.
